They are well known, but are priced higher than the competition. They are currently not able to mass produce. The author discusses Porter’s Five Forces – Entry (they are already in the market), Input Suppliers (will maintain current suppliers), Buyer’s Power (how people view hybrid/electric vehicles and if they maintain loyalty to a different brand), Industry rivalry (very competitive industry and is risky to a fairly new company), Substitutes (considering not only other types of vehicles, but public transportation, walking, biking, etc).

The author concludes that Company Green is part of a niche market and may have trouble competing with companies like Toyota since Toyota was a first mover in the market. Also that consumer tastes will affect the market for this type of vehicle, but if they have a superior quality product and god marketing they should be able to compete.
I found this interesting.
